One year ago….. Part I

Lets rewind….

These are the images we took while we were on holiday in Peru last Easter… time flies…

Finally, got some time to get the photos posted.

Peru is so far the most interesting part of the world that we have visited. It is amazing how easy to travel around Peru without speaking a word of Spanish. Peruvians are such an amazing group people when it comes to hospitality.

We had such a wonderful time in Peru…

We kick started off with getting used to drinking coca tea and chewing coca leaves. Apparently, it helps with altitude sickness (or so we’re told). Apparently, these leaves contain minute amounts of cocaine. Bringing these leaves back to our country are discouraged for obvious reasons.

Donkey and mules! the only other mode of transportation apart from our pair of legs to trek down the canyon (twice as deep as the grand canyon)…. without these amazing creatures, our life will be challenging.

This is one of the spot which is not commonly known, on our way from Arequipa and Colca Canyon after surviving being overtaken by “Acid” Tankers in very close intervals…

Four days of interesting walk (yes, Hart survive the 4 days with some difficulty) and on the very last day after those close to vertical flight of endless stairs just before sunrise, we arrived at the Sun Gate and the sight in front of you is simply “UNBELIEVABLE”.
Another interesting town/village is Puno…
Situated around 3800m above sea level, narrow streets, Chinese eatery, “Plaza de Armas” in every town in Peru, makes this city quite an experience…

Lake Titicaca would be the highlight of Puno…
It is probably the highest inhibited lake in the world with those floating islands… You would be surprise to find TV, Radio, etc on this remote floating islands.. talking about environmental friendly… its all run on solar power.

Peru is divided into 2 areas, the Andes and the Amazon. The stark difference of both landscapes, dealing with altitude and fighting with mozzies… The view from the flight is enough to tell one, how pristine the “Amazon” still is….. though due climate change, erosion is obvious even from this aerial view.

Mine oh mine! Such pristine environment within the Amazon Forest! Even Butterfly and turtle live in harmony in nature. It was scorching 30+ degree celsius and close to 100% humidity…
Rest, relax and have a beer after a long day of rowing in the midst of the Amazon tributaries
Last but not least, enjoy the beautiful Sunrise and sunset in the Amazon

Stay tune for more pictures from our holiday in US cities and Canada…..

Locations Photography

It is interesting to go to places in Singapore capturing images for our clients….

The challenge is to create different type of images so each client will have a very distinctive and different type of images.

After all, isn’t it better to have something special belongs to you rather than something everyone have?

We prefer to personalised our images to suit the “feel” of the day, the “mood” of the day and the “moments” of the day.

Here is some of our images taken indoor…..”ha ha ha”

“Pool baby”
“Tummy time”

” Hello Fishes “
“I am this tall now”

Early retirement

Most people want to retire at some point in their life… taking easy with life and enjoying the fruits of their hardwork.

We have retired since started doing photography full time… its not work when we have camera in our hands and have someone to talk to.

Our aim is simple in photography… capturing our subject in their natural environment.

With our photography, we keep things really simple… a camera, a lens which don’t zoom and a heart which feel the shots.

Our images is mainly the extension of what we feel, we don’t play with rules, as rules are boring and since we have retired, why bore ourself?? we want to play…

Our challenge with photography is to create our style of work within the boundaries which our clients given us. Be it a limited space, limited time frame, highly unpredictable weather as well as unpredictable nature of the little one. Our biggest challenge so far in Singapore is the lack of space… but that has not prevented us from producing the work which is dearly loved by us and our clients.

We love to give each of our client a very distinctive images which belongs to them dearly… hence we serve our clients and create images for them with minimal fuss…. we start from
photographing them in their home or travel to their preferred location, deliver the images to them while the “excitement” is still there.

It is always interesting to help our clients achieve studio images at the comfort of their own home…

Some Images to share…

Photographing little child is always interesting.

We often describe our work as organised chaos… (in the good way), that’s why we love great outdoor which the Mighty creator has given to us.

We love images of them in their own world… be it a stare, a smile, or a simple bench shot is a lot more powerful.

This session is with a family of four at Chinese Garden…..

“Deep thought”
“Smile”
“Barney – my friend”

Hope you enjoy those images as much as we do….Tomato Photo

Hello from Tomato…..

This is the Journey which we don’t see the end, because we are enjoying the journey… Just like a long holiday which do not have any end date that put us back to reality.

We are living our dream.

It has been an interesting 4+ months since we moved from Sydney to Singapore. Tomato Photo was set up in December 2007 as a continuity of Hartanto Photography which was based in Sydney Australia.

We were blessed with one healthy little baby boy on mid January 2008, and for the first time, it has been one of our joyous moment of our lives.

Tomato Photo Journey just started in early March 2008…. and it has been a rewarding few months learning new business culture in Singapore.

Tomato Photo specialises in people photography because we connect with people… Children photography and Wedding Photography are our focus now, however, we are putting more resources towards Children photography for 2008.

We hope to capture beyond the pretty faces. We love to capture those “personality” within the little one and capturing the feel, mood and moments in our work.

We are in the process of updating our corporate identity to reflect TOMATO PHOTO rather than Hartanto Photography.

Love….

Tomato Photo Team
